Bring Expert Appraisals Into Your Store

Vault Worthy Jewelry partners with jewelry store owners and managers to host Pop-Up Appraisal Days that bring qualified GIA and NAJA-credentialed appraisers directly into your retail space to serve your customers and drive new foot traffic.

Why Host a Pop-Up Appraisal Event?

Customers walk in carrying jewelry they have never had properly evaluated: an inherited ring, an old anniversary band, a piece bought somewhere else years ago. They are not always sure what to do with it. A pop-up appraisal event gives them a reason to come to you. When Vault Worthy sets up in your store, your customers can get a real answer from a GIA-trained gemologist, in person, on the spot.

And while they are in your space, they are looking at your cases.

  •  A reason for past customers to come back through your doors

How the Pop-Up Works

No upfront cost or risk to your business, and your earnings scale with the turnout you help drive. Our events are simple to explain to your team and easy to track!

Before the Event

We'll call to confirm date, appointments booked, and space needs. Customers make an appointment to bring in pieces for evaluation or drop off items before the event.

Day of the Event

We arrive with portable equipment and set up in a corner or private room. Each item is examined and discussed with the customer in full view. A written appraisal documentation is provided to the customer afterward.

How Revenue is Split

The appraisal fee is based on two factors: the number of items each
customer brings in for appraisal and the total time required to appraise them while on-site. Revenue collected that day is split evenly between Vault Worthy and your store, 50/50.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jewelry Appraisals

What is a GIA Graduate Gemologist?

A GIA Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) has completed the Gemological Institute of America's most comprehensive gemology program, covering diamond grading, colored stone identification, treatments, laboratory-grown gemstones, and the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight). The program requires hundreds of hours of coursework and hands-on laboratory work. It is widely recognized as the gold standard credential in the jewelry industry. At Vault Worthy Jewelry, both Kim Graham and Jewelry Judge Ben Gordon hold the GIA Graduate Gemologist designation.

Why should I choose a NAJA Certified Member for my jewelry appraisal?

The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) is the only appraisal association in the United States devoted solely to the appraisal of fine gems, jewelry, and timepieces. A NAJA Certified Member has completed a comprehensive Appraisal Studies Course, passed a practical examination, and must complete 16 hours of continuing education annually. They adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and a Client's Bill of Rights, ensuring their reports are unbiased, credible, and legally defensible. Kim Graham holds the NAJA Certified Member designation.

What is the difference between an insurance appraisal and an estate appraisal?

An insurance appraisal determines the Retail Replacement Value — the estimated cost to replace the item with a new piece of comparable quality in the current retail market. An estate appraisal determines the Fair Market Value — the price the item would sell for in its current, used condition between a willing buyer and a willing seller. These two values can differ significantly. Using the wrong value definition can result in over-insurance, under-insurance, or inequitable estate distribution.

How often should I have my jewelry appraised for insurance?

Most insurance providers recommend updating your jewelry appraisal every two to three years. Market conditions, the cost of precious metals, and diamond prices fluctuate over time. An outdated appraisal could leave you significantly under-insured in the event of loss, theft, or damage. If you have recently acquired new pieces, inherited jewelry, or noticed significant changes in gold or diamond prices, schedule an updated appraisal sooner.

Why is it important for a jewelry appraiser to be independent?

An independent appraiser does not buy or sell jewelry and has no financial interest in the transaction. This independence eliminates conflicts of interest and ensures the valuation is objective and accurate. When you visit a retail jeweler for an appraisal, there is an inherent conflict of interest. Vault Worthy Jewelry and Jewelry Judge Ben Gordon are fully independent — they work exclusively for the client and do not buy or sell jewelry.

What should a professional jewelry appraisal document include?

A comprehensive appraisal document should include: a detailed description of the item; metal composition and testing results; precise measurements and grading of all gemstones (including the 4Cs for diamonds); identification of any treatments or laboratory-grown stones; high-quality digital photographs; a clear statement of the appraisal's purpose (insurance, estate, resale, etc.); the applicable value definition; and the appraiser's signature, credentials, and contact information.

We work with stores, organizations, and businesses throughout Houston and the Greater North Houston areas.
